- President al-Bashir of Sudan arrived yesterday and was greeted warmly at the airport. Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, Gabon, Seychelles, Niger and others arrived Wednesday. 13 more leaders expected today and many more the next (we are still 2 days away from the beginning of the summitt). This is the 5th time that African and Beijing leaders have met at such a senior level. This Summitt is the largest.

The state news report also commented that African leaders view China as a reliable partner, because it has assisted African countries and cooperates with Africa "without interfereing in their internal affairs."
